What is shadowing?

Listen and repeat. This tool lets you practice pronunciation by selecting text chunks, recording yourself, and getting instant feedback on accuracy.

Quick start

• Pick the right mic language (must match your script language).
• Paste any text script in the bottom panel and click "Load".
• Optional: Load a YouTube video for background playback.
• Click on a chunk to select it, then press "Record" and speak.
• If you score above the accuracy threshold, you'll automatically advance to the next chunk!

Tips

• Adjust the chunk size slider to make segments longer or shorter.
• Set accuracy threshold based on your skill level (70% is a good start).

iPhone/iPad Users - Important!

• Language Matching: Make absolutely sure your microphone language matches what you're speaking - this is the #1 cause of poor accuracy!
• iOS Setup Required: Go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → Select your target language. Then enable Dictation for that language.
• How to Use: Pause the video, tap Record, speak clearly (2-3 sentences), tap Stop, wait 1-2 seconds for processing.
• Best Results: Speak in a quiet environment, hold phone close to mouth, avoid background music/video audio.
