DocMerge Privacy Policy

DocMerge is a lightweight tool that merges Microsoft Word (.docx) files. We designed it to be private by default: your documents are merged locally in your browser and are not uploaded to a DocMerge backend.

What we process

• Files you select (single .docx files or a .zip of folders): read in your browser only to create your merged file. DocMerge does not receive or store those document contents.
• Basic site and third-party data: hosting logs, analytics, ads, and the optional waitlist form may process ordinary web request data such as IP address, timestamps, browser data, and form fields you submit.
• Local preferences (in your browser): heading toggle, color, size, and output filename. Stored in localStorage on your device.

What we do not do

• No storage of your selected files or merged outputs on a DocMerge backend.
• No model training or content mining using your files.
• No account creation required.

Ads & third parties

We use Google AdSense to help fund free usage. AdSense may set cookies or use device identifiers to measure performance or deliver (non-)personalized ads depending on your region and consent.

Note: Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., EEA/UK), a consent banner may be required for ad cookies. We aim to serve non-personalized ads by default where applicable.

Service providers & location

The front end is hosted on Hostinger. The page may load third-party services such as Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Formspree, Tailwind CDN, and JSZip CDN. These providers may process ordinary web request data in data centers outside your country. Document contents are merged in your browser and are not sent to a DocMerge API.

Retention

• Selected documents: kept in browser memory only while the page is open and the merge is running.
• Local preferences: remain in your browser until you clear site data.
• Provider logs: hosting, analytics, ads, CDN, and form providers may retain metadata according to their own policies.

Your rights

Depending on your region (e.g., EEA/UK/California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Since we do not receive your document contents, requests typically concern waitlist submissions or provider-side metadata. Contact us and we’ll help.

Children’s privacy

DocMerge is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by your local law). Do not use the service if you are under the applicable age.

Security

We use HTTPS and local browser-side document processing. No internet service is 100% secure; please use judgment with highly sensitive documents.
