01 / GETTING STARTED01 / 始め方
Begin with the day you have.
Open an undated daily entry and add the date. Write up to three wins in your own words. They can be small, unfinished, or meaningful only to you.
Choose one to look at more closely: what helped it happen? Then choose one manageable next action. If only one win comes to mind, start there.1つ選んで、何が役立ったかを少し詳しく振り返ります。
AN ORIGINAL EXAMPLE · NOT A BOOK EXCERPT
- The win
- I prepared lunch before a busy morning.
- What helped
- I left a container on the kitchen counter the night before.
- My next action
- Put a container out again tonight.
Small counts, too.
A win doesn’t have to be an achievement someone else would notice. These original examples are prompts for your own thinking, not a checklist to complete.
-
Getting started始めること
“I opened the document I had been putting off and wrote the first sentence.”「
-
Asking for help
“I asked a colleague to explain something instead of staying stuck.”「
-
Making space
“I took a short walk between two busy parts of the day.”「忙しい予定の合間に、少し散歩した。」
-
Connecting
“I put my phone away and listened to a friend without rushing.”「
-
Trying again
“I returned to a task after a mistake and tried a different approach.”「
-
Knowing when to pause
“I stopped for a break when I noticed I was tired.”「
Turn to the next page.
Missed a few days, or a few weeks? Use the next daily entry and write today’s date. You don’t need to fill every gap or reconstruct what happened.
Start with one small thing you noticed today. If your routine became difficult, choose an easier time or a smaller next action. Returning is part of using an undated journal.
Look for what you can carry forward.
At the weekly review, read back through the entries you have written. Notice a win that matters to you, something that helped more than once, and one small action you would like to continue.
- What stands out when I look back?
- What made things a little easier?
- What would I like to try or repeat next week?
These are suggested reflection questions, not quotations from the book. A review is a chance to notice patterns, not to score your week. Use the entries you have, even if the week is incomplete.
Every four weeks, step back a little further.4
Use the deeper four-week reflections to look across several weeks. What keeps helping? Has what matters to you changed? Choose what you want to take into the next stretch.4週間ごとの振り返りでは、数週間の記録を見渡しましょう。
